Radar Road Extension Feasibility Study

Client: North Florida TPO/Clay County

Clay County has experienced continuous, sustained growth for the past 20 plus years. Similarly, traffic delays and congestion have also intensified. To reduce these traffic impacts, ETM evaluated the feasibility of extending Radar Road from US 17 to Town Center Boulevard.

The ETM team considered crash histories, the needs of pedestrians/cyclists, existing vehicle queues, and congestion issues. ETM’s personnel examined existing and projected conditions to develop several options for study stakeholders to consider.

Recommended long-term improvements include constructing Radar Road from Town Center Boulevard to US 17, adding a second northbound-to-westbound left-turn bay at the US 17/East-West Parkway intersection, constructing dedicated right-turn bays on three approaches of the East-West Parkway/Town Center Boulevard intersection, and adding a traffic signal at the intersection of Town Center Parkway and Village Square Parkway. These enhancements will be needed to ensure acceptable LOS results are maintained through the 2045 design year.
