Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver are charitable figures in Northeast Florida and have made a great impact on the community. Their legacy was celebrated with the construction of Weaver Park, which connects the YMCA’s facility to the Northbank Riverwalk. This park includes a colorful extended play space for children participating in the Y’s KidZone, plenty of seating, and open green space and gave the Brooklyn neighborhood opportunities to build a healthier lifestyle.
To encourage the community to enjoy the park, it was renovated with a fresh look, including a new retaining wall, hardscape, landscape, signage, sidewalk improvements, and a paved walkway along the river. The Park will offer the community family programs such as movie nights and outdoor fitness classes.
