An often-demanded widening project of County Road 210 in northern St. Johns County had an official kickoff Tuesday with a groundbreaking ceremony.

The project will add an additional four lanes of traffic for the 0.7 of a mile from Trinity Way to Beachwalk Boulevard with sidewalks on both sides. Additionally, a traffic signal will be added at the intersection of C.R. 210 and Badger Park Drive.

“This is a project that a lot of people have been working on for quite some time,” Public Works Director Greg Caldwell said. “This takes us up to $100 Million of just major transportation improvements under contract for construction.”

Prosser is the civil engineer on the project, England-Thims and Miller, Inc. lead construction engineering and inspection with Watson Civil completing the construction. St. Johns County will fund the project through impact fees, the Transportation Trust Fund and developer contributions.

Construction is anticipated to finish in the fall of 2025.
