San Marco Boulevard Pipe Bursting

Client: City of St. Augustine

The City of St. Augustine selected ETM to perform the civil design and Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) related services for its San Marco Water Main Improvements project. This project involves replacing approximately 6,000-linear-feet of aging 10” cast iron water main with 12” ductile iron under the existing sidewalk of San Marco Avenue.

We provided an alternative concept to replace the water main with 12” HDPE utilizing a relatively new trenchless technology called Pre-Chlorinated Water Main Pipe Bursting. Unique aspects of the project included narrow, urban, high traffic count, numerous high-profile stakeholders, and community groups, as well as aging and unknown utility infrastructure including gas, storm, fiber, telephone, abandoned water, and sanitary sewer.
