Alta Drive

Client: Florida Department of Transportation District 2

ETM was responsible for the design and permitting of approximately 2 miles of roadway widening which included work within the City of Jacksonville and FDOT right-of-way and an at-grade CSX railroad crossing. This project incorporated the replacement and relocation of all overhead utilities and adjustments to the water mains and force mains (which ETM designed for JEA). ETM’s coordination with adjacent developers adjusted the alignment and helped create two joint-use ponds for stormwater treatment and attenuation. This resulted in an estimated right-of-way cost reduction of over $1 Million, but more importantly saved four residences and an existing conservation area.

After the design was bid, JTA asked ETM to evaluate cost savings options originally ruled out by the City during the design process. By implementing a limited detour for a small segment of Alta Drive, we were able to reduce the JTA’s construction costs by $1.5 Million while providing improvements to an offsite City intersection (Faye Road at New Berlin Road).
