ETM’s Doug Kelly Awarded UF School of Planning and Landscape Architecture Distinguished Alumni of the Year

Doug Kelly, AICP, CSI, ETM Land Development Planning Manager, was recently awarded the University of Florida’s School of Planning and Landscape Architecture Distinguished Alumni of the Year. Doug was selected for a variety of reasons, including his exceptional experience, volunteer efforts, and educational support.

About Doug Kelly, AICP, CSI

Doug Kelly, University of Florida Class of 1992, joined our Orlando office two years ago and has been a key member ever since. His clients have included Kohl’s and 5th 3rd Bank during their entry into the Florida market, as well as Publix, CVS, Walgreens, Starbucks, and several other nationally recognized retailers. His residential clients have included industry-leading homebuilders and several top tier national multifamily developers. 

Doug began his public sector career working as an intern for the City of Gainesville during graduate school, and then as a development review planner for county government for 11 years. During the past 25 years, Doug has worked in the private sector specializing in concept planning, land development entitlements, expert witness services, and providing eminent domain support services for private property owners and condemning authorities throughout Florida. 

During his 35-year career, Doug has presented sessions at the National and State American Planning Association (APA) conferences and the Florida Bar Conference and has served as a mentor to numerous students and young professionals. Last year, Doug completed his 2nd term as Vice President of Section Affairs for the APA’s Florida Chapter. He has previously served as President and Vice President of the Florida Planning & Zoning Association (FPZA), as well as President of his local APA and FPZA Board. In addition, Doug recently completed his 10th year as an AICP course instructor. Currently, Doug is beginning his 2nd year as an APA National Policy Board member representing Florida as one of eight delegates on the APA National Committee. He continues to serve on state and national APA conference session sub-committees.
