Highlands is located at the junction of two major arterial roads, U.S. Highway 301 and County Road 218. This development will improve connection between these two roads by the construction of a new flyover across the existing CSX railroad. This connection will allow for new opportunities for business and commerce to occur in northwest Clay County. By bringing much needed utility service to this corner of the county, Highlands is envisioned to serve as a catalyst for the growth and expansion of existing industrial uses in the area.
With improved road and rail connectivity, Highlands will facilitate a new and emerging Job Center in western Clay County, thereby alleviating many of the growth challenges facing the eastern portion of the county. Highlands will grow the employment base of this portion of the county by adding an estimated 2,100 new permanent jobs to the area. Highlands will further provide all of the residential, educational, civic, and recreational resources needed to support the new jobs created. |
